    A spirited group of individuals with disabilities, families, staff and board members from YAI cheered and marched proudly in New York City's first Disability Pride Parade on Sunday. Their enthusiasm stood out among the parade's 3,000 participants. July is Disability Pride Month in New York City, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • Dawson Manor Joins the YAI Family

    On Tuesday, July 7, YAI assumed responsibility of an Ozone Park residential program. For months, a team from YAI's Residential Department has been observing and assessing the needs of 14 individuals at Dawson Manor. The home, which once served as a convent, provides a barrier-free environment with an elevator for seven aging individuals on the first floor. The others, who require less support, live on the second floor. There will be two programs under one roof.
