Founded in 1998, the International Institute for People with Disabilities of Puerto Rico (IIPD/PR) provides job training to people with developmental and learning disabilities and job placement with leading businesses and government agencies throughout Puerto Rico.

Through The Corporate Source, a member of the YAI/ National Institute for People with Disabilities (YAI/NIPD) Network, people with disabilities have an opportunity to work in government agencies across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, including: General Services Administration fleet carwash, IRS Mailroom, U.S. Coast Guard Base, U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Services and the U.S. I.N.S. Border Patrol Sector Headquarters.

IIPD/PR is a member of the YAI/NIPD Network. In 2003, YAI/NIPD Network's employment program in Puerto Rico received the top rating for outstanding work from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Working at Starbucks in Puerto Rico

Through IIPD/PR's Club VIVIR, a three-year-old socialization, travel and recreation program. (VIVIR in English stands for Independent Life and Valuable Recreational Integration), individuals with disabilities enjoy activities in the community, including trips to museums, the zoo, area parks, concerts, sporting events, movies and weekend and extended trips.
