Work with adults with developmental disabilities out in the community:
Community Training Specialists
Work with adults with mild developmental and learning disabilities in a community setting, providing pre-vocational training at local community volunteer sites. Network and partner with other local community sites for future use in consumer trainings. Help consumers develop personal awareness skills, independence and assist in providing community access, while being a liaison within the community.
Work with adults with developmental disabilities in a school-like environment:
Teacher Assistants
Work with adults with mild to profound intellectual and developmental disabilities in a classroom-like setting in a Day Services facility. Assist lead teacher in the implementation of structured lesson plans and behavioral goals. Assist in facilitating recreation trips while promoting community integration. Assist with daily living skills. Assist teacher with the facilitation of individual and group counseling. Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
Teachers
Work with adults with mild to profound intellectual and developmental disabilities in a classroom-like setting in a Day Services facility. Develop and implement curriculum and behavioral goals. Initiate recreational trips promoting community integration. Assist with daily living skills and facilitating individual / group counseling. Supervise and mentor Teacher Assistants. Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
