Independent Living Skills Program (ILSP)

YAI's Independent Living Skills Program (ILSP) is a series of 12-week group sessions, providing the opportunity for adults, 18 or older, to learn and develop skills in a group setting. Sessions focus on judgment, decision making, risk-taking, recognizing strengths, problem-solving, self-esteem, and self-advocacy. Weekly topics include money management, community safety, self-care, friendships, and relationships.

The course covers topics such as: 

  • budgeting
  • health & nutrition 
  • decision making 
  • problem solving
  • community & internet safety 
  • stress management
  • and other topics to help participants make strides towards independence

Applicants must have OPWDD eligibility and reside at home with family in Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Queens to enroll in this service.
