Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Partnership for Hope
On August 31, 2010 YAI Network entered into an agreement with the government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to provide training and technical assistance as they seek to improve their service system for people with IDD. Following a visit to Jordan by YAI staff, YAI produced a report assessing the Jordanian service system and suggesting areas for improvement. The initial set of projects involves developing clinical assessment tools and the clinical pathways to implement them, training Jordanian staff in how to work effectively with people with severe and profound disabilities and developing two group homes, which will be the first in Jordan and among the first in the region.
A signing ceremony was held at the global headquarters of KPMG in New York City. His Royal Highness Prince Ra’ad bin Zeid, Lord Chamberlain to his Majesty King Abdullah II and President of the Jordanian Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities signed the agreement on behalf of the government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Support for the project is being provided by the United States Agency for International Development in collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. The agreement runs through September of 2011.
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
On October 8, 2010 YAI Network entered into a three year agreement with the Onaizah Association for Development and Human Services (OA) to provide ongoing training, technical assistance and program development support. OA, which is located in Qaseem Province, provides educational, healthcare and residential services to people with IDD. The initial projects resulting from the agreement are two sets of week-long trainings, one on autism spectrum disorders and the other on early intervention for children with developmental delays and disabilities. Both trainings will be conducted in Onaizah, the former will also be offered in Riyadh. Other projects in the planning stages include technical assistance to improve OA’s residential services and clinical practice training for OA’s clinical staff.
