HAI@YAI Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Designated Area

HAI@YAI provides a secure viewing area along the parade route for the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. HAI@YAI, assisted by volunteers, supports people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD), people with physical disabilities and their family, friends and other New Yorkers in enjoying the parade in a designated space to ensure an enjoyable viewing experience.

How do I get tickets to enter the HAI@YAI secure viewing area?

There are no more tickets available at this time as the section has been filled to capacity. To go on our waiting list or get further information contact Ulli Fenninger at 212.273.6181 or ulli.fenninger [at] yai.org

What is the maximum number of people that I can have in my group?

Five - however the section is now filled up, so there are currently no more spots available.

Does HAI@YAI provide seating in their designated area?

No. There is a limited amount of space within the designated area, please limit bringing lightweight folding seats to those that need it.

Are there restrooms in the designated area?

No

Where is the HAI@YAI section located?

The exact location of our designated area will be determined 10 days before the event. People who have registered will be notified of the location of the designated area.

What time is the parade?

The parade takes place from 9am - 12pm. Typically Santa, the last float, passes the HAI@YAI area at approximately 11:30am. 

What time do I need to arrive?

We strongly recommend you arrive by 8am. After 8am the pathways from 5th Avenue may be closed. YAI volunteers will be stationed at the designated area beginning at 7am. 

Can I leave at any time?

Yes. The HAI@YAI entry points are also the exit points. They are open and typically free of crowds for you to leave at any time.

Will the parade be cancelled because of weather?

No
