Interesting article from Crain's New York Business. Nonprofits are left wondering how this will work.

In the months leading up to the passage of New York’s recent minimum wage hike, health care unions mobilized their members to amplify the call for $15 per hour. At the same time, employers in the industry aggressively lobbied Gov. Andrew Cuomo and state legislators to promise that if they had to pay workers more, taxpayers would pick up the tab.

To a large extent, both groups have gotten their way. But efforts to get the state to bankroll the wage increases that will be phased in over the next few years have paid off for some sectors more than others.
