Educational Director/Principal, iHOPE

Karen is the Director of the International Academy of Hope (iHOPE), a school that specializes in supporting students with pediatric acquired brain injury (PABI). Under her leadership, iHOPE has developed a comprehensive curriculum combining core education with aquatic, animal, and musical therapy, as well as an empowerment program facilitated by iHOPE graduates. Throughout her career serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Karen has maintained a person-centered philosophy and has worked to provide students of all abilities with access to a quality education. Prior to coming on at iHOPE, Karen spent 13 years as the Educational Supervisor for YAI. Previously, she spent more than 10 years teaching students with special needs. Karen holds a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from SUNY Geneseo and a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Fordham University. She holds a postgraduate degree, also from Fordham University, in School Leadership and Administration.
