Chief Engagement & External Affairs Officer
Peter Taback came to YAI in 2019 to advance the agency’s efforts to eliminate stigma and build greater understanding of capacity for people with disabilities to grow, change, and adapt. In his role, he supervises YAI’s communications, fundraising, and government relations as well as YAI’s Center for Innovation and Engagement, which deploys assistive technology according to YAI’s person-centered model. His experience in health communications and marketing helps raise awareness—and clear up misconceptions—about the evolution in services for people with disabilities. He has worked at amfAR, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, where he remains a member of the faculty. Peter completed his doctorate in English at the City University of New York Graduate Center and has taught at City College, Columbia, and NYU. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the CPC Learning Network, building the next generation of researchers and advocates for children and families.
