YAI's Independent Living Skills Program (ILSP) is a series of 12-week group sessions, providing the opportunity for adults, 18 or older, to learn and develop skills in a group setting. Sessions focus on judgment, decision making, risk-taking, recognizing strengths, problem-solving, self-esteem, and self-advocacy. Weekly topics include money management, community safety, self-care, friendships, and relationships.
The course runs once a week in the late afternoon to the early evening for two and a half hours. A light snack is provided. The course covers topics such as:
- budgeting
- health & nutrition
- decision making
- problem solving
- community & internet safety
- stress management
- and other topics to help participants make strides towards independence
