Training & Resources
Every year for more than three decades, the YAI Network has sponsored the Annual International Conference, which attracts an audience of ore than 3,000 professionals, family members and people with disabilities. People from all over the world come together to learn and share insights on critical issues. Conference workshops and seminars direct how people are trained and the quality of services for people with disabilities worldwide.
Autism Family Support Series
YAI's Autism Family support series are a number of educational support groups held in Manhattan. The groups cover a wide variety of topics and are provided in English, Spanish and Mandarin and are free and open to parents and caregivers of individuals on the autism spectrum. These groups are funded in part by NYS OPWDD and NYC Council's Autism Initiative.
Health Education Workshops
Premier HealthCare's free series of Health Education Workshops conducted in New York City for service coordinators, residential health care staff and other professionals assists in the training of staff in addressing complex health care issues for people with disabilities and their families.
Premier HealthCare, a member of the YAI Network, is cited by both the National Council on Disability and the U.S. Surgeon General as a national model for the provision of health care for people with disabilities.
Free Education Workshops
These quality workshops are free and open to self advocates, family members, students, professionals working the the field and anyone else who is interested in learning more about the wide range of topics around intellectual and developmental disabilities. Workshops take place at a number of different YAI locations throughout the city. These groups are made possible by a generous grant from the TAFT foundation.
The YAI Network is recognized throughout the U.S. and abroad for the outstanding quality of our professional training. Interactive training materials, including DVDs and CD-ROMs, are used nationwide and overseas to train and enlighten professionals in the field, people with disabilities and family members.
