Overnight respite is offered for up to 2 weeks at a time in a wheelchair accessible facility in LeFrak City, Queens; for Brooklyn and Queens residents, ages 12 and up. This program is located in an area with access to numerous recreational opportunities.

Manhattan Recreation Services

This club provides ongoing support to relatively independent adults, ages 16 and up, through recreational/cultural activities and discussion groups for increased self-awareness. Activities include arts and crafts, drama groups, trips, ball games, and other community events.

The Kew Gardens located afterschool program provides educational and recreational activities for students, ages 6-21. Staff assist students with homework, reading, writing, and math skills. Students also enjoy various activities, including exercise, board games, music, and local community outings.

The program Broader Horizons is a community-based recreational program for adults primarily with autism spectrum disorders. The program offers the opportunity for people to make friends and socialize through group activities. It provides a supportive and supervised environment in which participants can expand their social circles and become active members of the community. Participants will enjoy leisure and recreational activities that will focus on improving and developing self-esteem, maturity, and independence.

A socialization/recreation program designed to assist adults in achieving greater independence. Key components for our members include engaging in recreational activities, making friends, learning and practicing practical living skills. Members can participate 1-3 times per week based on need and availability.

Comprehensive training to prepare adults with a mild disability to live as independently as possible. Monthly group meetings are provided for parents/caregivers to assist them in supporting their relative in transition to greater independence.

The Coffeehouse program for adults provides an environment where participants can expand their social circles and become active members of the community. The program includes activities focusing on improving self-esteem, maturity and independence.

In-home respite provides families with a break from their daily routine. Trained staff provides scheduled care for a family member with a disability. This service gives the person new opportunities to develop greater independence.

Friday Night Live is a weekly socialization program for young adults aged 18-27 living at home. Activities provide opportunities for socialization, relationship building and the development of social skills and independence. Activities occur on site as well as at various community locations and include dinners out, bowling, movies, etc.

A weekly program held in Rockland County for adults (21+). It offers the opportunity for participants to socialize and bowl in a non-competitive environment. It takes place at a local bowling alley on Sunday mornings from September to May. Bowlers pay a weekly league fee.
