YAI National Institute for People with Disabilities (“YAI/NIPD Network”) is committed to protecting the privacy of its visitors and subscribers and strictly adheres to the following privacy policy.

The following provides the information gathering and dissemination practices for this website, www.yai.org, (the “Site”), which is owned and operated by YAI/NIPD Network.  By using the Site you consent to the collection and use of the information provided in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. YAI/NIPD Network reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy from time to time as it sees fit and any changes will become effective when the amended Privacy Policy is posted.  Your use of the Site following these changes means that you accept the amended Privacy Policy.  This Privacy Policy was last updated as of the Effective Date listed above.

What Information is Collected

YAI/NIPD Network may require users of the Site to provide certain of their personally identifiable information.  This information may include contact information such as names, e-mail addresses, postal address and financial information. YAI/NIPD Network may also collect users’ IP addresses.  If you provide or permit us to collect any information relating to another person, you are telling us that you have the authority to do so and permit us to use such information as described in this Privacy Policy.

This Site may also collect certain non-personally identifiable information automatically.  For example, this Site may receive technical information relating to--  

Information about your device, such as your screen resolution, operating system, device manufacturer and model, language and browser type; and/or

Information about your usage of the Site, such as features used, content viewed and downloaded, the dates and times of your interactions with the Site and other information.

How We Use the Information

YAI/NIPD Network may use contact information provided by users for personalization, identification, to send them information, newsletters, and notifications about important changes or upgrades to the Site or about services furnished by or through the efforts of YAI/NIPD Network. We may use users’ IP address to help diagnose problems with YAI/NIPD Network’s server, and to administer the Site. We may also use users’ personally identifiable information for our internal business purposes, such as data analysis, audits, fraud monitoring and prevention, developing and improving service offerings, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns, and operating and expanding our business activities.

YAI/NIPD Network may use the non-personally identifiable information we collect as described above for any purpose, except where we are prohibited to do so under applicable law.

YAI/NIPD Network may disclose the information you provide to its affiliates, to its third-party service providers who assist YAI/NIPD Network to administer the Site and to a third-party, including any affiliates, in the event of a reorganization, affiliation, disaffiliation, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer, or other disposition of all or any component of YAI/NIPD Network’s, or any specific member of the YAI/NIPD Network’s, business. 

YAI/NIPD Network may also use and disclose users’ personally identifiable information as it is required to do so by law, to comply with legal process, to respond to requests from public and government authorities, and to protect its operations, rights, privacy, safety or property.

We will not otherwise intentionally disclose your personally identifiable information to anyone outside YAI/NIPD Network without prior notice to you. YAI/NIPD Network will also take reasonable steps to prevent the accidental disclosure of this information. Changing Personally Identifiable Information

Opt-Out Policy

It is YAI/NIPD Network’s policy to respect our users’ requests not to receive e-mail or direct mailed information distributed by YAI/NIPD Network.  To be excluded from receiving information, newsletters, and notifications about services provided by or through the efforts of YAI/NIPD Network please send an e-mail using our contact page.  When it is necessary to notify users of a change in the Site’s service, YAI/NIPD Network reserves the right to notify its users by e-mail even if users have completed “opt out” forms across the Site.  

Information on Cookies

YAI/NIPD Network uses “cookies” to expedite the login process for our users.  Cookies are small pieces of text that are stored on your computer that help us know which browser you are using and where you have been on the Site.  By accepting our cookie you will be permitted access to certain pages of the Site.  A user who does not accept the cookies from the Site may not be able to enter certain pages of the Site.  The only personal information a cookie can contain is information that the user supplies.

Security

YAI/NIPD Network has implemented reasonable organization, technical and administrative security measures to protect users’ personally identifiable information from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction.  Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed 100% secure.  If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please notify us immediately via e-mail using our contact page. 

Transborder Transfer

The Site is controlled and operated by YAI/NIPD Network from the United States and is not intended to subject YAI/NIPD Network to the laws or jurisdiction of any state, country or territory other than that of the United States.

Notice to Minors

This Site is not intended for use by minors under the age of 13.  This Site does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 and YAI/NIPD Network does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from such individuals.

Please note that, for all users of this Site, YAI/NIPD Network may need to retain certain information for record-keeping purposes and/or to complete any transactions that you began prior to requesting a change or deletion. There may also be residual information that will remain within YAI/NIPD Network’s databases and other records which may not be removed.]

Do Not Track

Do Not Track (“DNT”) is a privacy preference that users can set in their web browsers.  When a user turns on DNT, the browser sends a message to websites requesting that they don’t track the user.  At this time, YAI/NIPD Network ignores these signals.  YAI/NIPD Network does not change its practices, described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy, in response to Do Not Track browser settings or signals.  For information about DNT, visit www.allaboutdnt.org.

Third parties may collect personal information about your online activities over time and across different websites, including your use of this Site.  This Privacy Policy does not apply to, and YAI/NIPD Network is not responsible for, the practices of third parties that collect your personal information.
