Share

This in-person event held at YAI's Headquarters in Manhattan

12 CE credits available*

This comprehensive two-day workshop helps attendees learn the unique needs and build understanding, skills, and empathy for working with aging adults with intellectual disabilities and those who need a modified environment. Attendees will learn how best to plan for and support the proactive healthcare needs of seniors in physical, emotional, and cognitive areas. Attendees will learn and practice concrete skill-based techniques that can be used to develop a Senior Program and to train other staff.

  • Day #1 is trained by a nurse and a dietician and examines the physical process of aging and supports needed.
  • Day #2 is trained by a licensed clinician and master trainer and explores sensitivity exercises, program planning, structural needs, and ways to support the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of aging adults with I/DD.

To review and practice, attendees will be guided through exercises as an opportunity to learn direct application. These techniques are beneficial for staff working with anyone who is aging.
