YAI staff and families on Long Island volunteered at the 14th annual Great South Bay Music Festival in July and raised $2,300 for the region.

The festival is Long Island's longest-running four-day music, arts, and cultural event. It features more than 55 performers on four stages and has an artisan market for handmade arts and crafts.

This was the first time YAI was a sponsor for the festival. YAI had an information booth run by local families receiving services and almost 30 staff from day programs and com hab. The team also helped hand out tickets and serve beer to the festival-goers, raising $2,300 in tips.

“It was a great staff-building event and we spread a whole lot of awareness about YAI and the services we offer,” said Colleen Ryan, Regional Support Supervisor.

Long Island staff volunteered for three of the four days and hope to use the funds raised for the region’s annual spring dinner and dance event.

“The families were a big help and always want to support YAI any chance they get,” said Ryan. “Their involvement goes a long way and I hope we can come back next year to continue to share YAI’s mission.”
