Supporting Individuals on the Autism Spectrum Coping with Grief and Loss through Death or Divorce
This article by the Indiana Resource Center for Autism focuses on how children and adults on the autism specitrum may experience loss due to death or divorce and how to provide support through the grieving process. It covers common responses to grief, factors that may effect the grieving process, support strategies, and offers helpful resources. It also includes links to social stories and visual aids to explain death, divorce and grieving to people with autism.

Helping People With Intellectual Disabilities Cope With Loss
The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center created a list of tips and resources to help people with an intellectual or developmental disability cope with the loss of a loved one. It reviews misconceptions, expressions of grief, strategies, and resources for those supporting a person with I/DD.

Devices for remote learning
Students who attend a New York City public school can request a device for remote learning from the NYC Department of Education (DOE). NYC students with disabilities in a religious or independent non-public school who need a device to learn remotely can now apply for one as well. To help students stay connected during COVID-19, the DOE is lending internet-enabled iPads to support remote learning for students. If you would like to request a device for a NYC student in your family, please fill out the form on their website.
Emergency Funding for COVID Pandemic
The New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities (NJCDD) has modified an existing contract with The Arc of New Jersey in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic. The Arc of NJ will be processing requests from any individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD), their families, and any qualified community-based organizations that provide supports to people with developmental disabilities, who are affected by the statewide Coronavirus response.

Regional Education Centers for Children of Essential Staff
NYC's first responders, health care providers, transit workers, and other key personnel must be able to go to work, so NYC Schools have created the Regional Enrichment Centers—where the children of essential workers can be safely cared for while their parents continue to serve the city in this time of need.
IncludeNYC Facebook Live Workshops and Parent Support Groups
IncludeNYC is hosting a series of Facebook Live workshops and parent support groups regarding the Department of Education and remote learning in English and Spanish. They will also be offering online parent support groups in English and Spanish. The parent support groups help parents/caregivers to share their experiences, struggles, and successes as parents of children with disabilities.
How To Talk About COVID-19 With People Who Have Autism
Parents and caretakers of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, such as autism, may want help with explaining coronavirus to their family members. NPR created a short talk on how to talk about COVID-19 with people on the autism spectrum.
Special Enrollment Period for Uninsured New Yorkers
New York State of Health, together with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS), announced that New York will make a Special Enrollment Period available to New Yorkers during which eligible individuals will be able to enroll in insurance coverage through NY State of Health, New York's official health plan Marketplace, and directly through insurers. This step is being taken in light of the COVID-19 public health emergency to further protect the public health of New Yorkers.

Mommy Poppins - COVID-19 Stay at Home Guide
Mommy Poppins is a website where families can find fun workshops/classes, including free or low cost stay at home activites. They created a Stay at Home COVID-19 Guide, which includes hundreds of activities and resources for families. The guide includes information on weekly online events, ways to keep kids busy while parents try to work from home, science experiments, and encrichment classes for kids, such as STEM, arts, music, sports and more.
Brooklyn Public Library
The Brooklyn Public Library is offering free, online programs for all ages. Programs include story times, gaming, support groups, toddler yoga, English conversation groups, meditation for teens, teen cooking classes, events for Spanish speakers, book clubs, professional workshops, expecting and new parents support group, and much more. Many of the programs do not require a Brooklyn Public Library card to register.
