When Peter and Siobhan, participants in YAI’s Manhattan Employment Program, volunteered at YAI’s recent gala, they never imagined that their good deed would land them in the audience of ABC-TV’s “The View!”

Last week, they attended as guests of co-host Sherri Shepherd, whom they met when she emceed the gala. “I had a blast,” said Peter. “Sherri was great!”

Sherri, who is the YAI Network's spokesperson, is a strong advocate for people with developmental disabilities and has leant her support and energy as a participant in YAI and Broadview Networks Central Park Challenge for the past few years. She speaks proudly of the tremendous progress her son made before graduating from a YAI preschool last year.   

Satera Febus, Assistant Supervisor of the Manhattan Employment Program, accompanied Peter and Siobhan to the show, where all three were greeted by Sherri and enjoyed watching Justin Bieber and Mary J. Blige perform. “It was all very exciting,” said Satera.

"Sherri came over and gave us a big hug," added Siobhan. "This was the best experience of my entire life!"
