Hope Levy presents at the Open Minds conference

This week, Hope Levy, Executive Director of YAI affiliate, Premier HealthCare, shared her knowledge at the Open Minds Technology & Analytics Institute taking place in Las Vegas. Before an audience of more than 100 providers, state Medicaid authorities, and technology start-up leads, Levy's talk, "Just What the Doctor Ordered," outlined hard-won expertise the Premier team gathered from 18 months of COVID testing, telehealth, and vaccinations.

"Premier was already delivering care through telehealth but it’s absolutely exploded during the pandemic," she remarked in her presentation, which attracted considerable interest and interrogation from peers. "If you're an on-the-ground provider, you now need to think about how to build a hybrid service model into your practice."

A source of national intelligence for populations with chronic needs, including I/DD, Open Minds has guided YAI through the research and support objectives of its next strategic plan, which will be shared with staff in the coming weeks. Their technology meeting is an annual opportunity for experts from across the country to explore common problems in the delivery of healthcare services -- a conversation Levy and Premier were happy to join.

"Things happening in the market prior to the pandemic have all been amplified during the pandemic," said Carol Clayton, a senior associate at Open Minds in her opening remarks. And indeed, Premier's experience launching telehealth in late 2019 proved to be life-saving lucky timing for its patients, who were able to receive regular medical care during the darkest days and who continue to welcome its convenience and efficiency.
