Photograph of Julie M., fundraiser extraordinaire!

Julie M. first moved into a YAI residence in 1978. In 1982, she began fundraising for YAI. Ever since, she’s been one of the biggest individual fundraisers each year for Central Park Challenge, raising an astonishing total of $29,051! In 2017 alone, she raised  $4,164.

When asked about her fundraising strategy, Julie said that she’s been going door to door throughout Westchester, both by bus and by foot. She prefers fundraising in the spring and summer, when the weather is nice. The regions she focuses on are Yonkers, New Rochelle, and Larchmont. She goes to both stores and houses, and tells people her name and what she’s raising money for. From there, her own charm and passion for YAI is what gets her so many donations! “I’m very happy to be at YAI supported living, I’m very independent. I do my own shopping, I pay my own bills… I have a great family and a great staff,” Julie shared.

Julie does fundraising because she enjoys it and because (in her words) she has “a very good heart.” We agree! Thank you, Julie, for everything you do.
