Labor Day weekend 2025 kicked off with the return of Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship in Paris from August 29th to 31st.
Like last year there were four major tournaments on Friday and Saturday. And like last year the event began with rush duel, speed duel and the master duel on pc systems. As for The opening ceremony had a special orchestra. Then on Sunday the Trading card Game tournament started with the quarter finals, the semifinals and the finals, as well another opening ceremony treat: a performance from social media star and dancer Salif Gueye and his crew. The fans liked it, and then came a special speech on video from French president Emmanuel Macron. Macron had wanted to be at the world championship, but unfortunately he had to attend the France/Germany Summit. However he was proud that so many players participated.
There was also an art gallery exhibition at the Musee Carnavalet which showed many displays of Yu-Gi-Oh. The tournament was so great that fans were enjoying it. There were a few interviews for certain contestants. What’s more, the Nike company had made a new shoe base of a character from both the magna and anime series. A surprising coincidence also was that during this same weekend, the WWE was in Paris too for their own event. They called it “Clash at Paris.” It took place on August 31. There were 4 new champions that had been crowned for the World Championships 2025 including the new champion Julien Kehon who won the trading card game tournament and was crowned for 2025.
It was a great 3-day event in Paris. The next world championship in 2026 will be in to Tokyo. Hopefully it’ll be better than last time, as they continue to gain support from both Konami and the Yu-Gi-oh franchise.
