In 2025, it was the 30th anniversary of Selena Quintanilla, known as The Queen of Tejano Music. Selena was born on April 16, 1971, in Freeport, Texas. She began her singing debut in 1981 when her father Abraham Quintanilla Jr. formed a band named Selina and Los Dinos. She was 10 years old when she began to perform alongside her elder siblings Suzette Quintanilla and Abraham Quintanilla III.

In 1987 she won the Tejano music reward for female vocalist awards of the year, in fact she won those awards nine times. Two years later in 1989 she signed with EMI Latin and released her self-titled album, and in the same year her brother became her music producer and songwriter. Since then she began selling 800,00 copies of her best albums from various music companies.

In 1994, Selena started designing and producing a line of clothing and opened her own boutique and beauty salon called Selena Etc. The first location was in Corpus Christi, Texas, and the second one was in San Antonio, Texas. She also held a fashion show. Selina organized events like baseball games for various charities and the Texas Boys and Girls Club of America in Dallas. She also headlined the Teach the Children Festival to support a non-profit program that provides school supplies to those in need.

On March 31st, 1995, Selena was tragically shot and killed by Yolanda Saldivar, who was an American nurse and the former president of Selena's fan club. Saldivar had been discovered to be embezzling funds from Selena's estate and was considered to be a dangerous individual due to her actions. 3 days after her death the Quintanilla family held a funeral and buried her at the Seaside Memorial Park at Corpus Christi. She was 23 years old at the time of her death.

Two years after her death, Warner Bros produced a film about Selena, her origins, her family, and her rise to fame, with Jennifer Lopez portraying Selena. In 2018 Netflix made a series about Selena. Now 30, years since her death, her fans still remember Selena and her music. Hopefully the fans will continue to enjoy her music as I did when I was growing up, I enjoyed her music because it was very. She will always be the queen of Tejano music.
