A popular PBS children's show, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, which is a spin off Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, is changing its format this season. They are having other characters lead the story line.

In January, they featured Max, a character with autism. In the episode, he learns that people can be more than one thing. Max finds out that Mr. McFeely the mail carrier, also volunteers at the local library as a story time reader.

The writers brought on Ava Rigelhaupt as a co-writer. She is on the spectrum and writes for another PBS kids show Carl the Collector. They also had a show advisor who is a behavior analyst. They wanted to make sure Max's story came from the viewpoint of someone with autism.
