On April 18th and 19th 2026, it was a spectacular weekend in Las Vegas. It was a double event weekend with both Yu-Gi-Oh and WWE’s WrestleMania.
First, the Yu-Gi-Oh game franchise returned to Las Vegas for the team YCS event. The Team YCS is a tournament event of 3 on 3 players, and like the original championship series, it has certain divisions of tournaments for certain people. These include the Dragon Duel (a tournament for kids of age 12 and under), one on one duels, and video games events like Duel Links, and Master Duels. They had giant versions of certain Yu-Gi-Oh cards, but only the winners can earn those, and there were over 1021 duelists for 341 teams.
There were so many things going on there, and in the end, Team Ares won the trophy. The event began at 10 am and it lasted roughly 9 hours. I hope for the next event, they might show it on YouTube or through a livestream.
Meanwhile, WrestleMania returned to Las Vegas for the third time. WrestleMania Week started on Thursday with the opening of the superstore and the WWE World Convention. This year, they had tons of good displays and merchandise, including the new Hulk Hogan statue. There were a few bonus matches at the convention with certain superstars of Raw, Smackdown, NXT, and AAA.
2026 was also the return of the 2k showdown video game tournament which featured WWE superstars Je’von Evans, Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriguez, and 2026 hall of famer AJ Styles. It also featured celebrities like NBA player Tyrese Haliburton of the Indian Pacers, The NFL players George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers, Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions, and Dion Dawkins of the Buffalo Bills.
During their week in Las Vegas, WWE had been doing some community support to certain organizations like the Make a Wish Foundation, The Boys and Girls Club, and the Special Olympics. There were some superstars doing interviews on television and radio stations. Finally, this year Stephanie Mcmahon, the daughter of Vince Mcmahon, was inducted into the 2026 Hall of Fame along with AJ Styles, among others.
Then WrestleMania started out with 2 patriotic songs, the first one on Saturday was the Las Vegas Choirs singing God Bless America, while Joe Jonas sang the “Star Spangled Banner” on Sunday. After that, John Cena returned to the WWE 4 months after his retirement match in December 2025, only he came back as the host of WrestleMania. There were even certain celebrities who were at WrestleMania, including ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and George Kittle, who also enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh as well.
The matches were great, including the ladder match for the intercontinental championship, the unsanctioned match with Jacob Fatu versus Drew McIntyre, and the world heavyweight championship match of Roman Reigns Versus CM Punk. In certain matches there were some old superstars who made good returns like AJ Lee, The Bella twins, and Paige, while others made their first debut, like Trick Willams and Oba Femi. Some superstar entrances were also great, like the masked wrestler Penta, who dressed as one of the Mortal Kombat characters.
The 2026 attendance record at the Allegiant Stadium was a bit less than 2025 though, with total weekend attendance of 106,072 fans. That’s 18,621 less than last year, when total attendance was 124,693.
It was a good weekend for these 2 events. I just wish that they could have come to New York. I would be so pleased about that. Who knows? I’ll just have to wait and see if they come to New York and if they are going to hold their events on the same weekend because I would like to work with them and to help YAI gain support from both WWE and Yu-Gi-Oh.
Even WWE superstar Xavier Woods also enjoys Yu-Gi-Oh. One time he was in a Yu-Gi-Oh master duel tournament event. That made me wonder if there might be other celebrities or sports players who might play the Yu-Gi-Oh game.
Also, Yu-Gi-Oh and WWE have some things in common—they give opportunities to new players and athletes, and they help fill people with confidence and determination.
