In March, team Venezuela won the World Baseball Classic of 2026.

Sports reporter Jake Mintz, from Yahoo Sports, wrote a fine piece March 18, 2026 on World Baseball Classic.

Mintz wrote, “Despite the most star-studded roster in American baseball history, despite a revenge tour that inspired a cavalcade of stars to put spring training aside and finally buy in to playing for their country at the World Baseball Classic, the result was almost exactly the same for Team USA as it was in 2023”

He was correct. It was a sad loss for the American team.

This USA team which featured the likes of Most Valuable Player 2026 Aaron Judge, home-run leaders Cal Raleigh and Kyle Schwarber, to add Bryce Harper, Paul Skenes, one would see this as Murderer’s Row! Yet in this classic it wasn’t so!

The championship game looked as if Team USA just wasn’t having fun, almost as if it didn’t want to be there! Three Strikes!

Strike 1-The big bats didn’t hit! They must’ve left more than 8 men in scoring position. It wasn’t only Aaron Judge not hitting it was everyone! The only good news came from Bryce Harper. He did hit a game tieing HR in the championship game. But that was it!

Strike 2 -The USA team in only had three hits! When men were in scoring position it seemed like they just choked.

Strike 3 - Mark DeRosa, manager of the United States national baseball team (Team USA) in the World Baseball Classic (WBC), managed the 2023 tournament—leading them to a silver medal. DeRosa returned to manage the team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Yet here’s what I think... if he lost the last time why pick him again? Dave Roberts who just won his Third Championship this past year 2025 with Los Angles Dodgers would’ve been a better choice.

As for team Venezuela, their pitching was the key factor in their triumph in the championship game. Like Team USA, Venezuela didnt drive in a lot of runs, yet they did connect and came through more than the USA team.

From a wider perspective, it must be mentioned that Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro was captured by U.S. special forces on January 3, 2026 during a military operation named "Operation Absolute Resolve.

Wow! the great Liberator Simon Bolivar would be so be happy! Arriba Venezuela!
