Vivian Presedo and I went to Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut. It is a whole town that shows what was like to live in a seaport in 1800s. It has boat building, a carving shop an old fashioned grocery store, a one room schoolhouse and a small church.
It must have been hard to get around back then if you had a disability. The roads were muddy and broken with holes. If there were sidewalks they were made of stone and were uneven. You had to go upstairs to get inside most of the buildings and boats. Even though it’s better than it was in the 1800s, it’s still really hard to get around. My sister had to help me with everything; I was embarrassed.
I am glad it's easier to get around now.
