The day of May 2, 2026 was cold/breezy, and there was a threat of rain. Yet that day MOTHER NATURE was on the people’s side! It was the annual BEST BUDDIES WALK!

For those who are not aware, this organization states in their website, “Best Buddies International is a dynamic and growing organization, thanks to the people that help advance its mission every day. Everyone on the Best Buddies team shares their energy and enthusiasm as they work to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”

They describe proudly the importance of the Best Buddies walk “The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is the leading event in the country supporting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Join 50,000 participants at 70+ Walks across the globe to support the Best Buddies programs in schools, workplaces, and communities. You’ll be making the world more welcoming to people with IDD — one friendship, one job, and one life-changing connection at a time!”

The May 2026 walk/event took place in the right area. Near Chelsea Piers on the Hudson River where there was a pleasant breeze. Before the walk there were some warmups led by gym instructors. One of them stated “When we see people walking proudly after the warm up it means we’re doing our job with pride”

The walk was about 20 Minutes, and everyone could see a United Nations of people with in all its Diversity: Afro, Latin, Asian, Italian, Jewish, Irish. People in wheelchairs and visually impaired folks walking side by side. No complaints from anyone.

Brittany Carroll, an employee at Best Buddies, ended the day saying “Look around today everyone is a Best Buddie! Talk about Nobel Peace Prize. That prize on May 2, 2026 belongs to Best Buddies! If you’re looking for bad news... wait till next year.
