The Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, NY offers free admission on the first Friday of the month from 4-8 pm. Each month has some sort of performance. Because November is Native American Heritage month, we got to see a Native American Dance troupe.
The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers have been performing for 25 years. They have members from different tribes. This included the Iroquois, Sioux , Hopi and Santo Domingo, as well as tribes from the Northwest. They all wore their traditional clothes with lots of feathers.
They played the drums, sang and danced. Some of the dances were a rain dance (to ask for rain). Another was a dance where a person dances with up to 7 hoops. Another was a dance to show you are in good shape by picking up a feather from the floor with your mouth without kneeling , sitting or having your arms on the ground.
It was a fun night.
