It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Jeffery Mordos, Chairman of YAI's Board of Trustees. Jeff's connection to YAI spanned more than two decades. Since first becoming involved in 1998 and later serving as Board Chair beginning in 2015, he was a deeply committed leader and champion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. His guidance helped shape YAI into the organization it is today.
Gary Milchman
Acting Chief Executive Officer
Jeff dedicated more than two decades to YAI, providing thoughtful leadership, strategic guidance, and an unwavering commitment to the people we support.
Under Jeff's leadership, YAI expanded its reach and impact — growing services into New Jersey and California, broadening its programs, and supporting thousands more individuals and families. His tenure included the partnership with iHOPE, as well as the continued expansion of educational offerings, including the growth of programs such as the Upper School at Manhattan Star Academy. His vision and dedication strengthened YAI's mission and positioned the organization as a national leader in the I/DD field.
David Stafford
Vice Chair of YAI’s Board of Trustees
Jeff’s dedication and commitment to YAI were extraordinary during his long tenure as Board Chair. He helped build a strong and talented leadership team and Board. We remain deeply committed to honoring his legacy by continuing YAI's mission and ensuring uninterrupted support for the people and families who rely on our services.
YAI's day-to-day operations remain steady and unchanged. The Vice Chair will carry on the duties of the Chair while that position remains vacant, following established governance procedures to appoint a permanent Chair.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jeff's family and loved ones.
