AHRC Educational Advocacy

AHRC offers educational advocacy services to people with developmental disabilities who are experiencing difficulty accessing services or have problems with the services being provided at school. Their Advocacy Center services include:

  • assisting families in drafting correspondence to the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE)
  • providing representation at Committee on Special Education, Committee on Preschool Special Education, and Individualized Educational Program (IEP) Annual Review meetings
  • accompanying parents on visits to both public and New York State-approved non-public schools.
  • assisting families in getting the appropriate representation at Mediation and Resolution Sessions, Suspension Hearings, and Due Process Hearings.
