As the 10 women from YAI's employment training programs browsed through the racks of clothing at The Globe Showroom in Manhattan this week, employees from the women's fashion company couldn’t help but smile.

They not only were providing the group with tips on developing their own style, but more importantly, they were offering the women a dose of self-esteem. For the women, many of whom are struggling to find employment, it was an important message, one they will remember as they continue to fill out applications and go to interviews.

"Never think you're worth the price of the clothing on your back," said Jeffrey Cayer, Owner and President of The Globe Showroom. "It's not about that. It's about what's in here," he said, pointing toward his heart.

After trying on a warm pullover sweater/vest, which Elle described as "warm and snuggly," staff let each woman select a blouse to take home one of The Globes generous designers including pieces from Sunner, Sam&Lavi and ARO. "Today makes me feel more confident about what to wear for job interviews," she said.
Jeffrey, who once struggled with dyslexia, watched proudly as the women learned about putting together outfits that can work at work, for the evening or the weekend.

"Growing up, I had dyslexia, but my creativity kept me alive," he said, recalling his passion for the fashion industry as a 9-year-old. "I had my fashion magazines and my dreams and created my destiny. I know what dreaming and longing for an opportunity is about. You just want to be acknowledged and valued."

Justine Kaufman, Sales Executive and Showroom Manager, explained that each year The Globe tries to give back to the local community by partnering with charities.

"No matter what you wear, everyone is beautiful inside and out," she said. "It's about how you feel inside. That's who you are."
