Thursday, June 28, 2012, was a special day for many of us throughout the YAI Network, who remember Randy Reyes with his trademark bandana wrapped around his neck, as a preschooler. No matter what the challenge, Randy worked hard to overcome. And with the support of his mother, who saw beyond her son's disabilities, Randy graduated with honors from the New York High School of Communication and Visual Arts. Let us know what you think. Doctors believed that Randy Reyes’ life was doomed from the start. Because he was born with cerebral palsy and other debilitating health conditions, it was uncertain that he would live past infancy, much less walk or even talk.

Randy’s mother, Maria Aller-Reyes, was told that her son’s chances of survival were slim; it was doubtful, they told her, that he would ever lead a normal life.

“In my heart, I knew that he would be better,” said Aller-Reyes. “My son has potential.”
